Generate cheap, green electricity from sunlight, capture the sun’s energy and convert it into electricity – respect the planet and it will pay you back with free solar energy to light, heat and power your home.
Solar electricity systems are known as solar photovoltaics (PV) which use their solar photovoltaic cells to capture the sun’s energy and convert it into electricity. Solar PV cells don’t need sunlight to generate electricity although the more sunlight the more productive solar PV cells are, on a cloudy day you will still generate some electricity. Solar PV cells convert the sunlight into electricity which can be used to run household lighting, heating and appliances.
The DC current produced by solar PV systems is converted into AC current that can be used in the home via an inverter which is usually installed in your loft. When the sun goes down and darkness descends, your solar PV system will automatically switch back to using electricity from the grid.
Solar PV panels can be installed on flat or pitched roofs and can be easily installed above roof tiles or slates or set into them for a more low profile effect. Drainage channels and flashings are incorporated beneath the solar PV panels in an aluminium weatherproof casing which is an advantage when it comes to new builds as roofing tiles are not required beneath the collectors. Flat roof solar PV systems are fitted on mounting rails to a rigid sloping frame located on the roof for an easy and quick installation.
If you would like to take advantage of nature’s free natural resources, make the environment a greener and better place for you and future generations as well as saving you money on energy bills, investing in solar PV is the way forward. BCS will visit you to provide a free initial survey of your home with a design and quote which will include how much projected energy you could generate.
How much energy your solar PV will produce for you will depend on location as well as nature’s resources. A south facing location will naturally generate the optimal amount of light during daylight hours but alternative facing locations will still produce a beneficial amount of solar energy.
Once installed, BCS will register your solar PV system with the Micro-generation Certification Scheme (MCS) and provide you with all the relevant documentation. You then send your MCS certificate and proof of payment to your electricity supplier and you are then ready to start generating your own energy.
If your Solar PV system is eligible for the Feed-in-Tariff scheme it could generate savings and income of nearly £1,200 per year. With Feed-in-Tariffs you can get paid for both the electricity you generate and use and what you don’t use you can sell back to the grid.
Apart from keeping your Solar PV panels relatively clean and ensure they are not overshadowed by overhanging trees; your Solar PV system should last at least 25 years and requires little maintenance. BCS will be happy to provide any information you need on installing solar PV in your home, so why not give us a call and switch on to a cleaner, brighter and energy saving future.
